The Web of Alternative Energy Sources Keeps Growing

By D. Mark

Al Gore probably will go down in history as the most influential person to almost be elected to the White House…well at least in terms of Global Warming.  With the emergence of An Inconvenient Truth on the global scene the new fad (and a good fad it is), is the expansion of the online alternative energy communities and websites. In the next few days I hope to discus a few of these sites and see how each impacts this emerging market and industry. So check back here tomorrow: When I ‘ll be reviewing a site on Vegetable Oil Fuel.

I must say I am very worried by biofuels for the simple fact that no matter what we do, the industry will be (and has been) taken over by large corporations that will exploit people and the land to make profit. It seems obscene to me to use land to grow food for cars and not people! Also, unless we used recycled oils, the industry would simply not be sustainable at our current rate of consumption. The answer is to cut down on our excessive consumption, start growing our own vegetables etc, use public transport, etc and only after we have done these things should we start finding solutions in renewable fuel and energy sources. If only our governments would provide us with efficient and clean public transport systems. . . I don’t have any trust in them, nor the corporations. We need to take control of the situation ourselves and work together for sustainable communities. At least, this is what I believe to be the solution. . .
